Toyota Offers a PROACE Adapted for Transporting People with Reduced Mobility

It is quite rare for a manufacturer to include a TPMR vehicle in their catalog. Toyota’s initiative in this regard is to be praised.

The PROACE TPMR is included in the brand’s catalog, demonstrating Toyota’s inclusive approach and its ambition to develop an increasing range of transformed utility vehicles with an optimized and simplified customer experience.

Specific modifications made with Gruau

To design the PROACE TPMR, Toyota partnered with Gruau. This French company, with over a century of expertise, is now one of Europe’s leading vehicle transformation specialists.

The PROACE TPMR comes standard with several specific modifications allowing it to accommodate a person in a wheelchair and able-bodied passengers who have difficulty moving:

· Rear access ramp for wheelchairs. Equipped with a non-slip surface, it deploys manually in three sections from the trunk, allowing a person in a wheelchair to easily enter and exit the vehicle. The ramp features LED lighting to facilitate nighttime operation.

· Removable step. Positioned in front of the sliding side door on the right side (curb side) of the Toyota PROACE, it makes it easier for people with difficulty stepping into or out of the vehicle to access the interior.

· Entry handles inside the vehicle. Located on each side of the two sliding side doors, they provide a useful support point to access row 2 of the PROACE TPMR.

· Two flip-up seats. Swiveling and folding, they allow, in the absence of a wheelchair, to add one or two additional seats in row 3. These fold-up seats come standard on all long chassis PROACE TPMR models (option on PROACE Verso TPMR Diesel).

The Toyota PROACE Combi TPMR and PROACE Verso TPMR

To meet all needs, Toyota offers the PROACE TPMR in two trim levels – Combi and Verso –, two lengths – Medium and Long – and three engine options: 136 hp electric, 140 hp and 180 hp diesel.

The Toyota PROACE Combi TPMR optimizes interior space with three front seats in a row, allowing it to accommodate 6 people plus the person in a wheelchair. The Toyota PROACE Verso TPMR features a refined and elegant finish, with a particularly comprehensive equipment package and high-level comfort for 5 passengers plus the person in a wheelchair.

In both trims, the Toyota PROACE TPMR is available in two lengths: Medium (4.96 m) and Long (5.31 m). The Long version allows for the two additional flip-up seats, bringing the maximum transport capacity of the PROACE TPMR to 8 people (configuration Combi Long, without a wheelchair).

True to its multi-technology approach aimed at meeting all customer requirements, Toyota offers all PROACE Combi and Verso TPMR models, Medium and Long, with electric and combustion engines.

The PROACE Combi and Verso TPMR Electric are equipped with a 100 kW / 136 horsepower motor, paired with a 75 kWh Lithium-ion battery. An efficient powertrain offering up to 330 km of range (WLTP combined cycle).

The PROACE Combi and Verso TPMR Diesel benefit from high-performance 2.0 L D-4D engines in two configurations: 140 horsepower with a 6-speed manual transmission and 180 horsepower with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The PROACE Combi and Verso TPMR are already available across the Toyota dealership network, starting at €57,400 including tax (PROACE Combi Medium 2.0 D-4D 140, 6 seats TPMR).
