While 24,000 stations will be deployed in China by the end of the year, Nio continues its expansion in Europe.

Mobiwisy regularly discusses the brand Nio, a Chinese startup turned automaker founded in 2014. Unlike some of its competitors, Nio is actively working on battery swapping to address charging issues. This technology is becoming increasingly interesting to manufacturers in Europe.

The latest third-generation PSS 3.0 sites in Malmö and Arlandastad, Sweden, can each perform up to 408 battery exchanges per day and store up to 21 smart electric vehicle batteries.

Specifically, this volume of daily exchanges represents a 30% increase compared to the previous Nio system. For the customer, it’s almost painless, since Nio’s technology allows a quick battery swap in three minutes, without users needing to leave the car or wait to recharge. The power of these station chargers is estimated at 62.5 kW, a respectable value justified by the desire not to overload the grid too much.

It should be noted that these third-generation stations are now compatible with cars with a wheelbase between 2.8 meters and 3.3 meters.

In Europe and France, the Nio EC7 is expected to be the flagship of the Chinese manufacturer. This crossover, 4.97 meters long, stands out for its sleek aerodynamics with a CX of 0.23, which is simply excellent. On the technical side, it is powered by two electric motors with a combined power of 653 hp to drive this promising model.
