In Germany, Tesla compensates for the disappearance of the ecological bonus with a €4,500 discount on the Model 3. Soon in France?

To what extent is Tesla ready to adjust the prices of its cars in Europe? That is the question growing following the double announcement of the loss of the ecological bonus in France and Germany. Two major markets in Europe for the American manufacturer. Two markets that could force Tesla to urgently relocate the production of the Model 3 in Europe, at its Berlin factory.

In the meantime, a first announcement has been made in Germany: until December 31, the price of the Tesla Model 3, already available for delivery, is discounted by €4,500! Listed at the retail price of €42,990, like in France, the American sedan drops to €38,490.

Proof that the states subsidized cars and manufacturers with already very comfortable margins on their electric vehicles for many years. All the rhetoric claiming that electric cars are more expensive to produce has just been debunked. And the entire European ecological bonus system is heading down the same path.

Germany has given the green light to stop subsidies because the course of history favors electric cars by continuing to penalize thermal vehicles. Consumers will ultimately have no choice but to switch to electric. Unless, again, there is a desire to slow down its growth. Experts increasingly argue that 100% electric is an utopia, or even a huge mistake.

The year 2024 looks set to be fascinating regarding price adjustments in France, Germany, but also more broadly in Europe and around the world.
