Hyundai to unveil its eVTOL on January 9, 2024, in Las Vegas (video)

The South Korean manufacturer firmly believes in aerial mobility and is investing in an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft eVTOL.

Here’s a bet on the future. From our very French-centric perspective, mobility with aerial taxis seems like a fantasy, even science fiction. The needs don’t really exist, and regulations will likely veto this kind of ecological folly.

Unfortunately, in other regions where helicopters are already well established (Rio, New York, Shanghai, Mexico City, Los Angeles, etc.), it’s a different story. Primarily due to travel time, but also for safety reasons. In some Brazilian megalopolises, it’s safer never to venture into the streets. Flying over them is recommended for those who can afford it.

Hyundai believes in this mobility solution thanks to the advent of eVTOLs, these electric aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. For this, the South Korean manufacturer founded Supernal Aero, which will be dedicated to this sector.

A further step will be taken on January 9, 2024, in Las Vegas. The Supernal Vertiport and the eVTOL will be unveiled, along with deployment dates.

By 2035 in the United States, Deloitte estimates that the eVTOL sector will generate around 280,000 “highly paid” jobs.
