The Formula E has decided not to race in India on February 10th due to a disagreement with the local government.

Season 10 of Formula E, to follow on AUTOhebdo, begins in just under a week (Mexico City E-Prix, January 13) and the calendar is still evolving. Originally scheduled with 17 races, the 2024 schedule has been reduced by one event, the Hyderabad E-Prix in India, which was planned for next February 10th.

On Friday, the electric championship officially cancelled its race in the Indian metropolis. A decision which, according to Formula E, “follows the decision by the municipal administration and urban development department (MAUD), which is part of the Telangana government, not to honor the host city agreement signed on October 30, 2023.” Promoters clarify that they had “no choice but to officially notify MAUD that this constitutes a breach of contract.” This cautious move comes after Hyderabad’s race was already affected by serious organizational issues in 2023.

The schedule for Season 10 of Formula E is now final, with 16 races organized across 10 locations. After the Mexico City E-Prix on January 13, which will kick off the championship, the field will head to Saudi Arabia for the two Diriyah E-Prixs (January 26-27). The cancellation of the Hyderabad E-Prix results in a gap of more than a month and a half between the third and fourth races, as the fourth will take place on March 16 in São Paulo (Brazil).
