Goodyear and ZF collaborate to improve vehicle movement control through tire intelligence.

Tires are the only part of the vehicle in contact with the road. Based on this fact, Goodyear and ZF, a global leader in automotive systems and industrial technology, have decided to integrate tire intelligence technologies into a vehicle movement control software called “Vehicle Motion Control”.

This collaboration incorporates Goodyear SightLine, a suite of intelligent tire technologies, into the ZF cubiX ecosystem, an evolving vehicle movement control software that coordinates all aspects of its dynamics. It provides data on tires and road conditions within the chassis system and offers a driving experience with enhanced comfort, control, and efficiency.

Through research, virtual simulation, and real-world testing, Goodyear and ZF have identified the potential of an integrated solution to improve vehicle performance and safety. Reducing the risk of hydroplaning, the Goodyear SightLine solution can quickly detect partial hydroplaning and recommends the optimal speed to enhance vehicle control.

Additionally, when worsening hydroplaning is detected, the tire intelligence data enables the cubiX software, designed to trigger chassis control systems, to apply corrective measures, stabilizing the vehicle.

The synergy between Goodyear SightLine’s capabilities and cubiX can provide improved vehicle responsiveness, more direct and linear steering, better cornering performance, increased stability, reduced technician workload, and minimized interventions.
