LEVC, from Black Cab to Luxury Minivan

The all-new LEVC L380, a luxurious and versatile minivan, will be launched in China this year before entering other markets.

If the LEVC brand is unfamiliar to you, there’s nothing to worry about. However, you probably know its famous Black Cab.

The company’s history began in 1908 when the first black taxi was specially designed and put into service for use in London. With its distinctive silhouette and classic design elements, this iconic British vehicle has defined the company for over a century. In 2018, LEVC introduced its latest model, the electric TX. This model is the main fleet of the VTC operator Caocao in France. In the meantime, the British manufacturer has come under Chinese ownership following its acquisition by the Geely group.

Today, LEVC is turning a new important page in its history with the production of its L380, the first in a new line of innovative, spacious, and fully electric models. It has the important task of helping the brand accelerate its transition from a taxi manufacturer to a leading provider of electric mobility solutions.

This minivan uses the new “Space Oriented Architecture” (SOA) electric platform developed by the Geely group. Focused on modularity, it allows multiple seating configurations with three, six, or eight seats.

We still need to learn a few minor details, such as its powertrains, range, and, of course, its prices. But we are now used to seeing Chinese manufacturers put the cart before the horse…
