Erre Design Studio Alpine A310 Tredici

Erre Design Studio has taken on the Alpine A310 to present its vision of the 4-seater coupe for tomorrow’s A-flag. And we love it!

Reinventing an automotive myth is an Everest for any designer, no matter how talented, but it must be noted that Antony Villain’s teams, the current chief designer of Alpine, have brilliantly resurrected the A110. Released in 2017, forty years after the end of production of the original icon, the new-generation berlinette has simply managed to charm because it is incredibly attractive. It looks so easy when done well. Its replacement with a 100% electric version is already in the pipeline from Dieppe, and we shouldn’t be disappointed.

Meanwhile, the Italians at Erre Design Studio have envisioned the rebirth of another Alpine, the A310. Presented in 1971, it quickly became the black sheep for an audience that didn’t find in its sleek, quite futuristic lines for the time, the charm of the rounder berlinette. Nonetheless, it had a very successful career, became the best friend of the police, and today enjoys a beautiful retirement in private collections, where it has established itself as a particularly desirable Youngtimer.

A proof of the avant-garde modernity of its design, the Italians at Erre Design chose it as inspiration for their concept car Tredici, 310 in Italian. Better yet, they incorporated all the stylistic codes of the original A310 into this study. From the large rectangular headlight blocks housing triptyque lamps to the massive rear with a spoiler on top, nothing is missing. The side air intakes, Lamborghini Miura-inspired slats, significant overhangs linked to the short wheelbase borrowed from the A110, and generous wheel arches… it’s truly a success!

Unless there’s a nearly divine intervention by Jean Rédélé, this project has little chance of becoming a reality, but it remains an act of beauty. Antony, doesn’t this give you some ideas?
