Elon Musk Promises a Crazy Tesla Roadster!

Elon Musk has provided some tantalizing insights into the design and production of the second-generation Tesla Roadster.

“Mind Blowing,” a term Musk used to describe the upcoming Tesla sports car. After years of delays, Musk also revealed that the company is considering starting deliveries of the Roadster next year.

Tesla first unveiled the second-generation Roadster in 2017. At the time of its reveal, Tesla aimed for impressive specifications, including 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds and a top speed of 400 km/h. Powered by a 200 kWh battery, offering a range of 1,000 km. Well, we know Elon Musk and his penchant for grandiosity, but in this new electric world, nothing is impossible!

A space-worthy Roadster!

All of this was certainly not going to be cheap, but with pre-orders for the limited “Founders” series at a price of $250,000, it wasn’t exactly excessive either. All units quickly found buyers anyway.

Since then, development of the Roadster has been put on hold, Tesla having other priorities, such as the renewal of the Model 3 and Model Y and the arrival of a future low-cost model. During the last annual shareholders’ meeting at Giga Texas in May, Musk admitted that production could only start this year, hinting at a market launch by the end of the year. It will finally be in 2025, but to keep its customers waiting, the turbulent CEO has added more fuel to the fire by emphasizing the vehicle’s exceptional features!

In a barrage of messages on X last night, Musk declared that he has “radically increased the design goals of the new Tesla Roadster.” Musk shared some details, notably stating that it will involve a collaboration with SpaceX, suggesting that space technology could find its way into the car’s architecture. Thanks to this, it may now be possible to hit 0 to 100 km/h in just over 1 second, blurring the lines between physics and fantasy—and maybe… “fly a little”! Let’s keep our feet on the ground; if Tesla achieves its initial goals, that alone will already be impressive, but why not add a touch of SpaceX.

We won’t have to wait too long to see all these changes. Musk claims that the team has finalized the design for production and that the new Roadster will be unveiled later this year, with plans to ship and deliver the first units as early as January.
