Lynk & Co 08

Lynk & Co is well known in France for its 01 monthly rental. But its range is expanding with this 07 with great autonomy.

Founded in 2016, Lynk & Co is a brand developed jointly by Geely and Volvo. While Volvo is pushing a rapid transition to fully electric vehicles, Lynk & Co aims to be the brand of the group’s fully hybrid models. The brand has faced some criticism for a rather divisive style on its early models, the SUV 01 and sedan 03, but as a good student, the brand learns from its mistakes. And it learns very quickly!

This new car can be considered as a sedan version of the Lynk & Co 08, a SUV launched last year with most of the same design elements, such as the new LED front position lights in the shape of a “H” and the full-width headlight group. Like the 08, it features hidden door handles to improve aerodynamics and, of course, style. The 08 enhances its profile with a black roof spoiler and taillights that extend across the width of the car, dotted with four rectangles.

FWD or RWD and great autonomy

The Lynk & Co 07 is a plug-in hybrid that features the traditional 1.5L four-cylinder turbo engine developing up to 160 hp. There will be two versions, one with a total system power of 280 kW (380 hp) and the other of 436 kW (590 hp). The less powerful version features an electric motor of 160 kW (215 hp) on the front axle. This architecture, inherited from Volvo, has served the Lynk & Co 01 well. On the Performance version, an additional 156 kW (210 hp) motor is added to the rear axle. The overall all-wheel-drive setup produces a staggering torque of 905 Nm.

But the main advantage of this new Chinese model, like most recent plug-in hybrids, is its range. 1,400 km are claimed by the manufacturer, with an entirely electric range of 102 km.
