No Tesla Autopilot Yet for Europeans

While Tesla has just crossed a new milestone in the deployment of autonomous driving in America, Europe continues to refuse this technology.

Like ChatGPT, Tesla’s autonomous driving software named FSD for “Full Self Driving” constantly evolves and improves with feedback from the various test versions deployed to date. So much so that the latest update, V12, can be regarded as an operational version of driving Artificial Intelligence.

Following extremely positive feedback, Elon Musk decided to deploy the FSD V12 software on all compatible Teslas in the United States. He has also offered everyone a one-month free trial so that they can witness the progress for themselves. This version remains subject to driver supervision, who can and must retake control of the vehicle at any moment.

A matter of months, perhaps weeks.

As powerful as Tesla FSD is in North America, Tesla owners in other parts of the world will not have the opportunity to test it immediately. The self-driving cars in trial have certainly ignited the appetite of European and Chinese customers, who should be the first to experience this partially autonomous driving, but they will still have to wait a bit longer. European regulations have indeed relaxed in recent months, but they still reserve the use of systems like FSD to professionals only.

Feedback from the American experience will certainly be studied very carefully by European legislators. If the overall results prove positive, a controlled deployment in the very short term is not excluded. One only has to witness the tremendous advancements of ChatGPT to understand that we are talking about not years but indeed months, if not weeks.
