BMWs lose a bit of their nose and that’s a good thing!

The BMW i4 and the BMW Series 4 Gran Coupe feature a subtly rethought design with a return to reasonableness for the front end.

Let’s admit it right away; we are not particularly fond of the stylistic direction taken by BMW in recent years with that famous oversized double kidney grille that nearly occupies the entirety of the vertical surface. Two kinds of large, ungrateful nostrils that have done a lot of harm to a brand known for its elegance. OK, we haven’t yet reached the level of Chris Bangle’s creations in the 1990s, and we may never do so, and that’s for the best, but action was needed. A lot can be good, but too much is always too much.

In addition to a more modestly sized double kidney grille, the new BMW i4 and BMW Series 4 Gran Coupe adopt a new lighting signature that is recognizable at first glance. LEDs are arranged vertically for the position lights, daytime running lights, and turn signals. On the front end, the design of the BMW “Mesheffect” grille is now complemented by a matte chrome insert that is revised on the standard models and those equipped with the M Sport trim. The M Performance models, on the other hand, feature a new grille with black horizontal slats similar to that of the BMW M4… but with more harmonious dimensions!
