What if the best feature of the Xpeng G9 was… its mattress?

SUV counterpart of the Tesla Model X, the Xpeng G9 arrives in France with a striking selling point: a XXL mattress.

Actions speak louder than words! How many SUVs or minivans have promised you can sleep in them, if needed? Whether it’s after a long drive, a camping trip, or just a naughty nap, there are plenty of reasons to want a mattress.

However, let’s avoid any disappointment: the mentioned mattress is not a standard feature of the electric SUV Xpeng X9, which has just hit the French market. It’s an accessory offered at a price of 799 euros, including tax, that perfectly fits the shape of the cabin.

The major advantage of this inflatable mattress is its concealment behind the passenger seat in the trunk. Its deployment and inflation are automatic in just a few seconds. No need to blow it up and feel lightheaded from hyperventilation for hours. It plugs into the 12-volt socket located in the trunk.

Xpeng G9, an electric heavyweight

The Xpeng G9 is not a small vehicle, and its prices start at 59,990 euros in France for the Propulsion version. Naturally, its price and Chinese origin prevent any possibility of ecological bonuses. A Propulsion Extended Range version starts at 63,990 euros, and the All-Wheel Drive Performance version starts at 73,990 euros.

The entry-level version offers a 78.4 kWh battery and a range of 400 km in the WLTP cycle, with a power output of 313 horsepower. The Extended Range version increases the range to 570 km thanks to a 98 kWh battery, while the power remains unchanged. Finally, the All-Wheel Drive Performance version drops to 520 km despite having the same 98 kWh battery, due to its power output of 551 horsepower.

For the rest, the onboard equipment is extensive with all the latest technologies in the electric vehicle market. However, there are still a few options, such as Premium seats and Dynaudio audio for 3,990 euros or certain body colors for 1,000 euros.

All things considered, this Xpeng G9 is not so expensive when looking at its features. The only question left is to open up to Chinese driving.
