Nissan Gives Renault the Finger with Its Silence S04

In partnership with the Spanish company Silence, Nissan will market a direct competitor to the upcoming Renault Mobilize Duo in France.

It’s no longer a walk in the park within the Renault-Nissan group. The Alliance has been struggling since the Carlos Ghosn affair, and the presentation of the Nissan S04, in collaboration with the Spanish company Silence, is further proof of this.

Following in the footsteps of Seat with this same manufacturer Silence, which had rebranded its scooter line, Nissan is betting on the idea of a micro-electric car that will compete with the Citroën Ami. Without wasting time, the Japanese manufacturer is adopting the Silence Nanocar S04.

The Anti-Citroën Ami?

Let’s get one thing straight: with a starting price of 16,660 euros, the Silence S04 is not cheap. It is 50% more expensive than a Citroën Ami, which is already quite costly in relation to its features and finishes.

Nissan will therefore rely entirely on long-term rentals to lower the monthly payments and make this micro-car appealing. Its concept is interesting: 2 versions L7E (85 km/h top speed) and L6E (45 km/h, equivalent to 50cc), with an acceleration to 50 km/h in 7 seconds. For Nissan, the starting price, including the eco bonus, will be 11,990 euros.

Version L7E 1 battery: 14,490 euros
Version L7E 2 batteries: 17,140 euros

Two removable batteries, like those on Silence scooters, allow you not to rely on a power outlet on the street, but to charge at home or elsewhere (7 to 9 hours for a 0 to 100% charge). The combined range would be 175 km for the L6E and 149 km for the L7E, which is double that of a Citroën Ami. A good point! With just one battery, the range would be 75 km, which is about 50 km in real conditions…

The trunk volume reaches 247 liters despite ridiculously small external dimensions: 1.27 meters wide and 2.28 meters long.
