Finally, the ID.Buzz is perfect!

Long chassis, new battery, increased range and significantly lower price, the Volkswagen ID.buzz 7-seater ticks all the boxes.

At Mobiwisy, we have often been critical of the ID.Buzz. Why? Because while the original idea was great, the execution in 2022 fell short. Expensive, underpowered (204 horsepower), somewhat of a rebodied ID.3, the range was misaligned with the ambitions. So much so that very quickly, the niche turned on itself and interest faded.

There was also suspicion that Volkswagen favored the United States at the expense of Europe, as the Long Wheelbase version (now called the 7-seater in France) was initially designed for Uncle Sam’s country. But today, everything is back in order, and even to unexpected proportions. Evidence that the German manufacturer is successfully rolling out its electric plan.

Everything better… and cheaper!

Since July 2024, the ID.Buzz has undergone a thorough overhaul of its catalog: new battery, new power, new range, new 7-seater body as an option, and most importantly, lower prices. Just look: down by 6000 euros for the 5-seater version, which now starts at 52,850 euros… before discount! As for the 7-seater version, with a wheelbase extended by 19.2 centimeters, it costs 58,400 euros, which is cheaper than the old 5-seater ID.Buzz!

At the same time, power has increased to 286 horsepower using the new electric powertrain developed by Volkswagen for a wide range of its catalog, from the ID.3 to the ID.7. The battery capacity has increased from 79 to 86 kWh, which seems like a modest increase, but the chemistry and new electronic management make all the difference. The range thus rises to 469 kilometers, a nice performance for a vehicle of this size.

Charging has also significantly improved, with a possible power of 200 kW to quickly regain range when the family takes a break on the highway. In terms of sensation, note that acceleration to 100 km/h only takes 7.9 seconds, which is better than many small GTIs!

The trunk’s volume has also exploded from 1340 liters in the 5-seater configuration to 2469 liters once the seats are folded down.

In short, ultimately, this Volkswagen ID.Buzz, in its 7-seater version, genuinely ticks all the boxes for a cool, endearing, charismatic family vehicle that’s fun to drive.
