Honda finally unleashes its electric SUV S7

Born from a joint venture with the Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng, the Honda S7 finally breaks the stylistic codes of the Japanese firm.

One can’t help but say “Wow!“. Close to a Cadillac CTS in its angular lines, the new Honda S7 makes quite the impression with its ultra-energetic and pure design. No exterior mirrors or door handles. Even the wheels, combining alloy and carbon, are both beautiful and useful for directing airflow. Merging utility with aesthetics, such rare qualities.

The proportions are perfectly balanced, and the rendering truly deserves praise, as it is far from the sensible creations for the typical American family man. At the front, the headlights resemble those of a Lamborghini Revuelto, but who cares.

Never imported to Europe?

It is impossible to be so assertive, but it is true that this model is primarily destined for the Chinese market. Besides, production relies on a joint venture with the local manufacturer Dongfeng. We are no longer in the realm of science fiction, as the Honda S7 will be launched in the coming weeks.

We learn that two versions will be offered for sale, with 1 or 2 electric motors. The first will have 200 kW of power, or 272 horsepower at the rear wheels. The all-wheel drive version would have 400 kW, or 545 horsepower. The battery is expected to have a capacity of 89.8 kWh for a “Chinese” range of 620 to 700 km. The downside would be a weight close to 2.2 tons, but you can’t have everything…

The Chinese prices are not yet known, but the positioning will be premium… which could imply relatively modest sales and thus the possibility of later exporting to Europe. If it made the journey, would you be tempted to succumb?
