Ride: Ride this Rod for €54,880

The Finnish electric motorcycle company Verge Motorcycles has opened its first four dealerships in the world, two of which are in Europe.

Founded in 2018 under the name RMK Vehicle Corporation in Finland, the now-famous Verge Motorcycles has moved beyond merely designing eccentric electric concepts. The very personal touch concerns the hollow rear wheel hub with the electric motor coil pushed against the rim wall.

Production and marketing have begun, notably in France. Nevertheless, you won’t see them on every street corner as the prices are quite high. The positioning is very high-end, and you’ll need to have some serious cash to afford one.

The example that comes to mind is the Verge TS Ultra, which has a starting price of 54,880 euros in France. Admittedly, the technical specifications are astonishing:

• 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds
• Top speed 200 km/h
• Range up to 375 km (in the city)
• Weight 245 kg

With such power and torque, traction control is essential. The price is further justified by the extreme technology on board, such as the presence of 6 cameras, similar to Tesla, which monitor your surroundings to enhance your active safety. The digital interface with the machine is also very well-designed and modern.

A Renault Twingo battery?

The standout feature of the Verge is its range. Thanks to an XXL battery with a capacity of 21.8 kWh, equivalent to a Renault Twingo (22 kWh), this motorcycle promises 215 kilometers of range… but at a stabilized speed of 90 km/h on cruise control. This is already a very impressive performance, and up to 375 km in the city. Here, the benefit of being heavy really comes into play: regenerative braking makes all the difference.

As for charging, it accepts up to 25 kW on a fast charger, recovering from 20% to 80% in 25 minutes.

If riding a Verge TS interests you, be aware that the entry-level prices start at 33,280 euros in France with reduced power and torque at 80 kW (108 hp) and 700 Nm. The 0 to 100 km/h drops to 4.5 seconds, and the range decreases to 250 km in the city. The top speed is limited to 180 km/h, and the charging speed is slower (55 minutes from 20% to 80%).

Finally, there is also the TS PRO version, which slots between the TS and the TS Ultra. With 1000 Nm of torque, 102 kW (138 hp) of power, 200 km/h, and up to 350 km of range, it starts at 36,880 euros.
