We can finally watch TV in our car!

The CANAL+ application is coming to compatible Renault vehicles. A great first that opens up a wide field of possibilities.

First of all, it’s important to remember that watching a screen while driving is pure foolishness! Every second of inattention dramatically increases the risk of an accident, so it’s out of the question to watch a football match on the highway to pass the time when you’re behind the wheel—rather, it’s about enjoying the cozy cocoon of your car to relax while stopped.

Today, it is already possible in most modern cars to enjoy streaming apps or an integrated internet browser to watch a movie or a video, but it’s nearly impossible to watch live TV. Infotainment systems are simply not made for that. This is a shortcoming that CANAL+ and Renault have just addressed. The CANAL+ application will be available for download starting October 4, 2024, in connected Renault vehicles equipped with OpenR Link technology in France, Switzerland, and Poland. It will also be pre-installed in new compatible vehicles. In addition to the best of cinema in the CANAL style with more than 300 exclusive films a year and CANAL+ Original Creations, lucky owners of diamond logo cars will be able to enjoy news, entertainment, and live sports. All of this, of course, only while parked! A very strong selling point for Renault and a nice opportunity for CANAL+, which gains a new clientele. Ultimately, a very smart win-win operation.

At the 2024 Paris Motor Show, opening its doors on October 14, visitors will be able to discover the CANAL+ application in all vehicles equipped with OpenR Link, from Captur to Rafale. We naturally think of electric car owners who will turn their charging sessions into more than pleasant moments. Children already loved restaurant breaks replacing triangle sandwiches eaten while on the go; now it will be necessary to make them accept the idea of turning off the TV to get back on the road…
