PlayStation Offers a Free Classic Gran Turismo Tonight!

PlayStation is releasing “My First Gran Turismo” for download tonight, a free version of its famous driving simulation.

This week marks the 30th anniversary of the first PlayStation, and Sony continues to celebrate these three decades of success. The latest gift for its fans is a free version of Gran Turismo, which will be available starting midnight this Friday, December 6.

Named “My First Gran Turismo“, this free game is a simplified version of the latest title released in 2022. If you have a PS5 or a PS4, you can download the game for free starting at midnight local time. It doesn’t appear to require a Plus account, and no availability duration limit is indicated.

If you’ve already played Gran Turismo, don’t expect all the challenges and modes typically found in a full version, as this is not a complete release. It’s called My First Gran Turismo because it’s specially designed for new players. Just the basics, but it should be enough to entice gamers trying the franchise for the first time through this version to purchase the full game. Sony keeps in mind that the eighth installment of Gran Turismo will be released soon.

But when someone gives you a gift, you don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Let’s appreciate this lovely gift for what it is. However, it would be surprising if some Easter Eggs aren’t hidden… This isn’t just about taking three laps around the track to move on to paid content. We are promised a real game with racing modes, rally stages, time trials, and a special permit series. 18 of the most famous cars from the franchise are announced, including the Lamborghini Countach LP400 shown on the cover. Let’s hope the Toyota Supra icon hasn’t been forgotten!

One last nice detail: the game is compatible with PlayStation VR2. This is an opportunity for Gran Turismo fans to discover everything the PS VR2 has to offer, and for VR2 owners to experience Gran Turismo. This game is a gift, but you don’t build an empire like PlayStation without having an edge.
