Refresh for the Renault Espace: Now a Family SUV

The New Renault Espace adopts a renewed and modern design, in line with the current stylistic language of the diamond-brand.

With a redesigned front face, new lighting signatures, and an exclusive Baltic Blue Gray body color, it presents a more commanding presence. Offered in 5 or 7-seat configurations, it maintains interior space and modularity suitable for families. However, only the name and interior space remain from the original Espace.

Forget the pioneer of the minivan that revolutionized the automotive industry in the 1980s. The New Espace is now a large SUV, a segment widely represented in the market. This choice reflects current trends but results in a loss of uniqueness. Although the design is less controversial than in its early days, it risks getting lost among a saturated market full of similar models.

The New Espace features a 200 hp full hybrid E-Tech powertrain, combined with a multi-mode automatic transmission. It displays a WLTP-rated fuel consumption of 4.8 l/100 km and CO² emissions of 108 g/km, with a maximum range of 1,100 km without recharging. This engine already meets the upcoming Euro 6 Bis standard but offers no electric alternative, at a time when such powertrains are gaining ground in the large SUV segment.

A Update More Than a New Model

The interior is distinguished by the Solarbay opaque glass roof, the largest in the Renault range (nearly 2 m²), which can be adjusted to various levels of transparency. A driver recognition system personalizes the experience according to saved preferences (seats, mirrors, multimedia). Passengers benefit from more ergonomic seats, better soundproofing, and improved climate control.

The rear bench, which slides over 22 cm, allows for space optimization according to needs, with a trunk volume reaching up to 2,224 liters in 5-seat configuration, or 2,054 liters in 7-seat mode. Appreciable modularity, but still standard within this segment. Thanks to the 4Control Advanced technology (four-wheel steering) and 32 driver assistance features, the New Espace offers agile and safe driving. These features include innovations like adaptive LED Matrix headlights.

Produced in Palencia, Spain, the New Renault Espace will be available in three trims: Techno, Esprit Alpine, and Iconic. Its market launch is scheduled before summer 2025 in several European countries.

While the New Espace ticks the boxes for modern expectations, it loses the bold DNA that marked its launch. Less disruptive, it appears to play it safe in a saturated market, risking to go unnoticed among numerous competitors. Produced in Palencia, Spain, it will be offered in three trims: Techno, Esprit Alpine, and Iconic. Its commercial release is scheduled before summer 2025.
