MAN Lion's Coach

MAN Truck & Bus becomes the very first European manufacturer to offer a 100% electric coach on the market.

This new model, named MAN Lion’s Coach 14 E, will be unveiled in October 2025 at the Busworld Europe trade show in Brussels. Series production will begin in 2026 at MAN’s Ankara plant in Turkey, which has recently been adapted for electric vehicle manufacturing.

The MAN Lion’s Coach E marks a significant new step in the manufacturer’s sustainable transport strategy. With a range of up to 650 kilometers, it is perfectly suited for short and medium-distance trips, such as shuttles, city sightseeing tours, or corporate travel.

This new model is based on a proven platform: that of the MAN Lion’s Coach, launched in 2017. It is a three-axle vehicle measuring 13.9 meters long, capable of carrying up to 61 passengers while maintaining luggage space equivalent to that of a diesel coach (between 11 and 13 m³).

A MAN technology already proven

MAN uses electric motors already tested on its trucks for this vehicle, as well as next-generation NMC batteries produced in Nuremberg. Depending on the configuration, the battery capacity varies from 356 to 534 kWh. Charging is done via a CCS system up to 375 kW, and will be compatible with megawatt charging (MCS up to 750 kW) in the future.

In terms of design, the Lion’s Coach E is distinguished by its modern and aerodynamic style. Its new profile reduces air resistance (Cx of 0.31), further improving autonomy. Inside, passengers will enjoy high comfort, and the driver will benefit from a fully digital control station designed for enhanced safety and ease of use.

In 2025, a pilot fleet will be tested in several European countries. MAN thus continues its goal of offering zero-emission mobility solutions, already well underway with its range of urban electric buses, which have sold over 2,500 units since 2019.
