Volvo FH Aero: Its Battery and XXL Range Shock!
This page is translated from the original post "Volvo FH Aero : sa batterie et son autonomie XXL choquent !" in French.

Volvo reveals the technical details of its 100% electric FH Aero tractor, confirming the decarbonization of the logistics sector.
After months of teasing and road tests, the Swedish manufacturer Volvo Trucks finally unveils its new long-distance electric truck, the FH Aero Electric, capable of traveling up to 600 kilometers on a single charge and recharging to 80% in just 40 minutes. This model, which will be commercially available in 2025, promises to sustainably transform road logistics in Europe and worldwide.
Until now, electrifying long-distance heavy trucks represented a major challenge due to the need for a large range, fast charging, and high loading capacity. Volvo Trucks addresses these issues with the FH Aero Electric, designed specifically for long-distance missions, a segment responsible for a significant share of CO₂ emissions in road transport.
Recharge in 40 minutes thanks to the MCS
The new model is compatible with the MCS (Megawatt Charging System) standard, allowing a charge from 20% to 80% in about 40 minutes. This duration aligns with mandatory rest breaks for truck drivers in Europe, preventing any time loss for carriers. With this performance, long-distance electric transport becomes an operational reality within a single workday.

Up to 48 tons and 780 kWh of battery
The FH Aero Electric boasts an impressive loading capacity, close to that of traditional diesel trucks, with a maximum permissible weight of 48 tons. This performance is made possible by a 6×2 configuration with an additional axle, allowing the addition of 8 batteries for a total capacity of 780 kWh. The new electric axle system (e-axle) frees up space for more batteries while optimizing weight distribution.
Also available with a standard cab, this new model is part of a complete range of electric trucks offered by Volvo Trucks. The company supports its customers at every stage of electrification: route selection, charging infrastructure, connected performance tracking services… and especially a solid experience, with over 5,000 electric trucks delivered in 50 countries since the start of series production in 2019.
