The Mercedes eActros 600 Electric Put to the Test for Long-Distance Logistics

Mercedes intensifies the decarbonization of its logistics with the integration of 14 eActros 600 for long-distance routes.
These battery electric trucks will supply Mercedes Trucks plants in Germany and Europe, on journeys of up to 600 km, with cross-border routes to Italy, Luxembourg, or the Czech Republic.
The eActros 600, unveiled in 2023 and produced in series since November 2024 in Wörth, is designed for heavy long-distance transport. It is equipped with three lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries totaling 621 kWh of installed capacity, or about 600 kWh usable. This technology, known for its longevity and thermal stability, allows the truck to achieve a range of 500 km without intermediate recharging, with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 40 tons. Thanks to rapid recharges during regulatory breaks, more than 1,000 km per day is feasible.

The powertrain relies on an internally developed eAxle electric axle, incorporating two motors and a two-speed gearbox. This architecture enhances energy efficiency while reducing mechanical losses. The vehicle is approved for a maximum GVW of 44 tons. In standard semi-trailer configuration, the payload reaches approximately 22 tons, according to national regulations.
Mercedes Trucks announces a target lifespan of 1.2 million kilometers over ten years, with a residual battery capacity of over 80% at the end of this period. The LFP technology also allows for the utilization of over 95% of the batteries’ nominal capacity, which promotes consistent and predictable range.
An Innovative Logistics Project
To support this transition, Mercedes has implemented charging infrastructure at its sites. In Wörth, 15 charging stations are operational, including six fast TruckCharge stations at 400 kW. In total, 11 similar stations have been installed in Gaggenau, Kassel, Mannheim, and associated warehouses. Eight new fast stations will be deployed in 2025.
TruckCharge, Daimler Truck’s charging offer, provides a comprehensive service to operators: consulting, planning, equipment supply, and operation. In parallel, the joint venture Milence, co-owned with Volvo and Traton, is developing a public network of 1,700 charging points, supplemented by over 3,000 semi-public points by 2030.

The Electrify Inbound Logistics project, launched in 2023, aims for the complete electrification of inbound logistics for the Wörth, Kassel, Mannheim, and Gaggenau plants. It was awarded the VDA Logistics Award 2025. In 2024, the eActros 300 and 400 had already traveled two million kilometers on approximately 40 regional routes.
With the eActros 600, Mercedes-Benz Trucks brings electric long-distance transport into industrial practice. Relying on 14 logistics partners, including Duvenbeck, Fercam, Seifert Logistics, or Schuon, the company demonstrates that local CO₂ emission-free logistics is not only achievable but is now fully operational.
