An electric motorcycle for real fun

The rise of 100% electric mobility is taking off and is no longer limited to cars or urban motorcycles.

Electric motorcycles designed for venturing far from the pavement are also benefiting from the latest technological advancements. The American brand Bakcou fully embraces this trend with its Puma X22, an electric motorcycle built for off-road use and designed to combine performance, silence, and zero emissions.

Hidden beneath its compact lines is an electric motor delivering up to 22 kW (approximately 30 horsepower), hence the model’s name. But it’s especially its torque that impresses: 850 Nm available instantly, providing accelerations worthy of some sports bikes. With this silent power, the Puma X22 boasts a top speed of 124 km/h and a 0 to 100 km/h in five seconds. The power is transferred to the rear wheel via a continuously variable transmission (CVT), ensuring smooth traction on all types of terrain.

The range announced by Bakcou reaches 160 km on a charge, a very respectable figure for a leisure and adventure-oriented motorcycle. The charging time varies depending on the type of charging station: it can go down to two hours with an appropriate charger.

A purely recreational electric offering

On the technical side, the Puma X22 is built on a chassis combining steel and aluminum, ensuring robustness and relative lightness. Weighing in at 129 kg including the battery, it is heavier than a comparable gasoline-powered machine, but its instant torque and the absence of a traditional gearbox more than compensate for this extra weight in off-road use.

Designed primarily for adventure, it is aimed at riders who only put their wheels on asphalt when necessary, favoring trails, forest paths, and remote areas. Bakcou has focused on simple and effective ergonomics: intuitive controls, natural riding position, and components sized to withstand the stresses of off-road riding.
