The Honda EV Fun, the brand’s first electric roadster, is completing its final tests before production.

Honda is about to launch the EV Fun, which was presented as a concept at EICMA last year. After years of teasing and patents filed, the Japanese brand seems finally ready to offer a full-fledged electric motorcycle in showrooms.

The first images and videos of prototypes show that the production model will remain very true to the original concept. The design retains its recognizable silhouette, featuring a single-sided swingarm, belt drive, and modern, airy lines. Some modifications were necessary for homologation, such as the addition of turn signals, a license plate holder, and a slight redesign of the battery pack, which is now divided into two vertical parts.

On board, the round dashboard of the concept makes way for a more conventional rectangular TFT display. The semi-transparent side panels and the double stacked headlight with horizontal DRL are retained, giving the EV Fun a futuristic look.

Fast charging, an asset for Honda

Honda announces a range of about 100 km, sufficient for urban use, with the possibility of going further thanks to fast charging. This feature could compensate for limited range and allow for quick recharges at high voltage terminals.

The motorcycle’s dimensions are similar to that of the Hornet, with a more upright and comfortable riding position thanks to advanced foot pegs and a long, flat seat. The absence of a traditional tank also allows for a more open space for the rider and comfort suitable for all sizes.

According to Masatsuga Tanaka, the project leader, the goal was to create an electric motorcycle that offers a unique experience: “a smooth and quiet ride, with a feeling of unity with the machine, as if becoming the wind.” Tests conducted in Europe helped refine the motorcycle to ensure reliability, performance, and riding pleasure.
