Price Increase for the New Toyota Land Cruiser

The 2024 model year of Toyota’s indestructible 4X4 is becoming more upscale. Without denying its off-road roots, we are promised.

While the 2022 model year offered a base version for 55,250 euros, the new Land Cruiser starts at 69,000 euros in the Le Cap version with a significant upgrade compared to the previous generation and a rich array of features. You might say it doesn’t matter when the penalty can reach the value of the vehicle, but you already know all this.

The Land Cruiser was born 72 years ago, on August 1, 1951, under the code name “Toyota BJ.” It quickly demonstrated its power and capabilities by becoming the first vehicle to conquer the slopes of Mount Fuji. Its unbeatable robustness has been rewarded with XXL-sized sales, with 11.3 million units sold to date in over 170 countries. The all-new Land Cruiser is the latest generation of a model that, for over 70 years, has built an unparalleled reputation for strength and the ability to face the toughest conditions around the world.

Less rugged, more tech

This price increase is largely due to the integration of new driver assistance features, the famous ADAS, which are essential for homologation. But Toyota has also made a significant effort in terms of technological equipment for the new model year. Positioned higher for better visibility, the digital instrument cluster of 9 or 12.3 inches, depending on the versions, displays gauges and data with crisp graphics that are easy to read in all lighting conditions. The multimedia system is accessible via a high-definition touchscreen of 8 or 12.3 inches.

The new Land Cruiser features a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine producing 204 hp (150 kW), chosen for optimizing driving pleasure and efficiency. It is equipped with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Due to penalties, this engine has absolutely no future in France, except in the used car market or for die-hard fans of the brand and the model. Thus, to see this Land Cruiser on our roads, we will have to wait for the 48V hybrid engine announced for the first half of 2025.
