Frenchman Romain Dumas secured a fifth victory in the most legendary hill climb race driving a demonic electric pickup truck.

Romain Dumas could only celebrate the 10th anniversary of his first victory at Pikes Peak with success. On Sunday, June 23, the Frenchman was the fastest to climb the famous mountain in Colorado, driving his powerful electric Ford F-150 Lightning (1,400 horsepower)!

The Frenchman took only 8’53”553 to ascend the 20 km and 156 turns, sometimes on the cliffside, of the course. This is slower than his record set in 2018 with the electric Volkswagen ID. R, but his preparation was disrupted by the cancellation of several practice sessions due to weather conditions. His performance only confirms the enormous potential of electric motors in this type of exercise. However, one still needs to be able to harness all their power, a skill in which Romain Dumas has become a master.

Romain Dumas experienced an unprecedented scare when his Ford F-150 suddenly stopped at the beginning of the ascent! The driver had to pause for about twenty seconds to perform a “reset” of his pickup before resuming his race.

A prestigious rookie well-known to rally fans, Dani Sordo, took the third step of the podium. The Spaniard drove a new Hyundai, the Ioniq 5 N TA Spec, entered by the Bryan Herta Autosport team.
