The starting grid for the F1 Canadian Grand Prix

The tenth round of the 2025 F1 World Championship will take place this Sunday evening in Montreal, at the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit. With an impressive qualifying lap, George Russell has secured pole position. The British Mercedes driver will share the front row with Max Verstappen, his “archrival” from Red Bull, for a start that promises to be particularly fierce.

Behind them, Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and young Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) will occupy the second row, both well-positioned to be spoilers. In the third row, we will find Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), two veterans with ambitions still intact. Lando Norris, only seventh with his McLaren, will lead Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), while Alex Albon (Williams) and Franco Colapinto (Alpine) will complete the top 10.

On the French side, Isack Hadjar will start from 12th position after receiving a three-place penalty for impeding Carlos Sainz during Q1. Esteban Ocon, now with Haas, will start 14th. As for Pierre Gasly, who faced a difficult qualifying session, he will start from 19th place. However, he benefits from a slight elevation since Yuki Tsunoda (Visa Cash App RB) has received a severe ten-place penalty for overtaking under red flags during Free Practice 3.

The start of the 2025 Canadian F1 Grand Prix will be at 8:00 PM (French time). With such a tight grid and significant stakes for the championship, the race promises to be particularly thrilling on the banks of the Saint Lawrence River.
