Starting grid and schedule for the F1 Spanish Grand Prix

For now, competitors can only acknowledge the obvious: McLaren is dominating the 2025 F1 season. Despite the introduction of reinforced front wings meant to slow their progress, no team has been able to halt their momentum. At the Spanish Grand Prix, the ninth race of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, the orange cars will once again start from the front row. Oscar Piastri secured pole position ahead of his teammate Lando Norris, confirming the supremacy of the British duo.

Behind them, Max Verstappen lies in wait on the second row. A three-time consecutive winner in Barcelona, the Dutchman remains a formidable opponent. He will share the second row with George Russell, who showed significant improvement after a particularly disappointing weekend in Monaco. Fifth on the grid, Lewis Hamilton offers Ferrari its best chance to aim for the podium this Sunday.

The third row is completed by Kimi Antonelli, Russell’s teammate at Mercedes, who is diligently continuing his learning process. Charles Leclerc, only seventh, saw his hopes diminish after a single fast lap in Q3. He will share the fourth row with Pierre Gasly, who performed excellently in qualifying, claiming a noteworthy eighth place, perhaps his best performance this season.

The top 10 is rounded out by Isack Hadjar, who remains solid and consistent, and Fernando Alonso, in tenth, who hopes to score his first points of the season in front of his home crowd. Just behind, Alex Albon (11th) narrowly misses out on reaching Q3.

On the other hand, it was a black day for Esteban Ocon (17th) and Carlos Sainz (18th), who were both brilliant in Monaco but find themselves at the back of the grid this time. It is also worth noting that Lance Stroll, with the fourteenth fastest time, will not participate in the Grand Prix. The Canadian has withdrawn due to a hand injury and will soon undergo surgery.
