Verge TS

Integrating the motor into the rear wheel is a solution adopted by many manufacturers for vehicles of relatively low power. Putting it directly into the rim, however, is much less common, and that is what makes the Verge Motorcycles bike so interesting!

The Finnish company has been working on this project since at least 2018, the year they unveiled their first prototype. Their motorcycle, initially called RMK E2 and later renamed TS, is now ready to hit the road. Verge Motorcycles assures that production has just begun, and the first units will be delivered within a few weeks.

The most remarkable feature of the TS is this orbital rear wheel, which is essentially hubless. In theory, it should make life easier for motorcyclists, who no longer need to lubricate a chain or replace a belt. But ultimately, its main appeal is probably aesthetic. With it, the Verge Motorcycles TS is definitely one of the most impressive electric motorcycles on the market!

There is indeed a motor inside the wheel (or rather in the rim), and it even delivers a comfortable power!

Up to 300 km of range

The TS’s electric motor delivers up to 102 kW at peak, with a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm. It is powered by a 20.2 kWh battery, which guarantees a theoretical range of 200 km on expressways. In urban cycles, the motorcycle would be capable of traveling 300 km on a single charge. Electricity consumption also varies depending on the selected mode. There are four modes: Eco, Highway, Max, and a customizable mode. On alternating current, the bike recharges in 4 hours and 30 minutes. However, thanks to its combo connector, the TS can also be plugged into a fast charger and recover 80% of its range in 40 minutes.

Weighing 249 kilograms, the TS is equipped with Brembo brakes and Michelin Pilot Power tires. Performance-wise, Verge Motorcycles promises a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 4 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h.

The question now is whether the TS will find its place in the market. Priced at €30,000 excluding bonuses, this motorcycle is unlikely to be widely distributed regardless.
