Cake: Electric Motorcycles Enter the Used Market

Known for its electric motorcycles, the Swedish manufacturer Cake offers second-hand models to make its products more accessible.

Have you heard of Cake? This company based in Sweden became known for its small minimalist-looking electric motorcycles. It also offers very stripped-down scooters that almost resemble large motorized bicycles.

Unique Cake products… but not cheap!

The problem is that these different models are expensive, sometimes even very costly. In the Kalk range, electric bikes with about fifteen horsepower, there is nothing below €11,000. And still, you’ll need to spend an extra €1,000 if you want a road-legal model.

The Makka and Ösa scooter family is more affordable, but prices remain high for such basic machines (up to €12,500 for the most expensive model).

A used program re:Cake to lower prices

So, to try to persuade those hesitant for financial reasons, Cake is entering the second-hand market with a new program called “re:Cake”.

The concept is simple: the company takes back models from its range, carefully refurbishes them, and then puts them on the used market at more affordable prices. It also adds a front mudguard in green and fork protectors of the same color. This special treatment subtly highlights the ecological benefits of the initiative, which extends the vehicle’s lifecycle.

A dedicated page compiles the various available used Cakes. The manufacturer provides the main specifications for each two-wheeler, but surprisingly forgets to mention the mileage.

The vehicles currently available have been used for marketing purposes. Prices are obviously lower than new, but keep in mind that second-hand two-wheelers are excluded from the national bonus, which can reach €900 for a new electric two-wheeler over 2 kilowatts.
