The Honda Gold Wing gets a facelift

Since the debut of the first model in 1975, the Honda Gold Wing has always represented the pinnacle of two-wheeled travel.

While it continued to increase in power, comfort, and inevitably weight, the 2018 model year marked a virtuous shift in the flagship’s course by focusing on weight reduction and agility. A feat without compromising the fundamentals that made its legend, with new features and a modernized engine.

In 2022, a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission made its debut to better tame the power delivered by the six-cylinder flat engine of 1833cc. Introduced in 2018, this engine is a unique masterpiece benefiting from Honda’s extensive expertise. To better control it, the rider has a wide range of riding aids including an electronic throttle and 4 riding modes: TOUR, SPORT, ECON, and RAIN. Depending on the selected mode, the braking system’s operation adjusts to suit road conditions and rider preferences. Hill start assist and automatic stop-start (Stop & Start) provide greater ease of use and improved energy efficiency.

The 7-inch TFT LCD display provides all the information for audio and navigation systems, as well as riding modes and suspension settings. Meanwhile, passengers can enjoy the comfort of two independent seats, well protected within an air bubble thanks to optimized airflow management by the fairing and adjustable windshield.

To maintain its appeal and attract a younger generation of motorcyclists who may have overlooked or simply ignored the previous incarnation, the GL1800 Gold Wing receives a new matte finish: Armoured Green Metallic, with brown details on the engine covers for its latest model year. This 24YM Gold Wing remains a grand touring motorcycle capable of taking its passengers on multi-day trips thanks to a total volume of 60 liters distributed between the two saddlebags.
