Welcome aboard the Renault of the future
The Renault R-Space Lab explores technical solutions for the cabins of future Renault vehicles.
Derived from the work of Futurama, Renault’s study center for intelligent vehicles on the horizon of 2030, this demonstrator does not predict a production model but presents concepts and technologies that could equip the cabins of tomorrow.

Measuring 4.5 m in length and 1.5 m in height, the R-Space Lab adopts a monovolume architecture offering a modular and bright interior. The dashboard features a curved openR panorama screen that spans its entire width, displaying speed, driving aids, and multimedia. Major functions are controlled via a central touchscreen, while the compact steering wheel and electronic steering (steer-by-wire) enhance comfort and visibility for the driver.
Renault bets on modularity
The seats are fully modular. In the front, the seat integrates airbags and a multifunction glove box that can accommodate an object, transform into a tablet holder, or offer a relaxation space. It can also slide back to facilitate interactions with rear passengers or a child in a car seat. In the rear, three identical seats with reclining backs and a flat floor provide complete modularity: they can slide forward or lift up to optimize the trunk space and allow the transport of bulky items or a bicycle. The doors open at 90° to facilitate access and loading.

The laboratory also tests safety and assistance devices for the cabin, such as a touch alcohol detection sensor and AI functions integrated into the Safety Coach, to assist with driving and provide personalized recommendations for drivers.
