Every step counts in the race towards a sustainable automotive industry, and Brembo proves this with its first brake calipers made from 100% recycled aluminum. This innovation reduces CO₂ emissions by 70% over the product’s lifecycle, while maintaining the performance and design standards that have made the Italian brand renowned.

The initiative, launched in 2020 after more than five years of research and development, is part of Brembo’s broader effort to reduce its environmental footprint. Aluminum, an infinitely recyclable material, was chosen for its ability to combine durability and mechanical quality. Finding the perfect alloy required meticulous exploration of global markets to ensure performance, moldability, and availability across all the company’s factories.

Brake on Excesses

Switching to recycled aluminum was not just a change of material: it required a complete reindustrialization of the calipers to ensure their worldwide production. The result: an innovative and responsible product that retains Brembo’s distinctive stylistic features and can be customized in shapes and colors. Each caliper made with this alloy now bears the ALU logo, symbolizing its upcycled aluminum. Brembo goes beyond recycling: the company valorizes the original material by giving it a new life.
