According to the latest Autohero barometer, French vehicles and SUVs still dominate the used car market in France.
Autohero, one of the leading used car sellers in Europe, has revealed the trends in the French used car market for the first quarter of 2024.
The first good news is that the top three confirm the strong preference of consumers for French vehicles. With 17.1% of Autohero’s total sales during the period, Peugeot was the most popular brand in the first quarter, ahead of Renault with 16.9% of sales, and Citroën at 11%. The Renault Clio, Peugeot 208, and Renault Captur are the most popular used car models. This trio is very close in market share, each representing just under 5% of total sales.
SUV remains king of the used car market
Reflecting market trends, SUVs are the most popular type of vehicle, accounting for 35.8% of Autohero’s sales in the first quarter. City cars followed closely with 34.1%, indicating a strong preference for compact and practical vehicles in urban environments. Sedans captured 14.6% of sales in the first quarter.
According to the AUTO1 Group Price Index, used vehicle prices have decreased by 3.3% since the beginning of the year.
