The Skoda Octavia RS modifies its engine and lowers its tax penalty!

The sporty sedan from Skoda does not back down against electric vehicles and has revamped its engine to be cheaper to buy.

Presenting a technical update on August 14 is quite bold, unless the goal is to fly under the radar. That’s a possibility. Thus, the information first leaked from the United Kingdom, where this type of vehicle is appreciated for bringing color to the surrounding gloom. That is the mission of the Skoda Octavia RS.

The important information does not concern the additional 20 horsepower (now at 265 horsepower), nor the arrival of new electronic features, most of which drivers don’t care about. No, the interest lies in the significantly reduced CO2 emissions.

Nice savings on penalties

The most notable change concerns the wagon Octavia Combi RS, whose emissions drop from 161 to 154g of CO2/km. One might think this is minimal, but when referring to the table of the 2024 ecological penalty, the effort deserves applause. The wagon’s penalty drops from 4543 to 2918 euros, resulting in a savings of 1625 euros!

As for the sedan, its emissions are 153 g of CO2/km, resulting in a penalty of 2726 euros, or a difference of 196 euros compared to the wagon.

Offered from 46,560 euros (49,286 euros including penalties), the Skoda Octavia RS sedan is a model facing extinction, especially with the rise of the electric car whose performance, price, and operating costs are much lower. The Combi RS starts at 47,710 euros in France (50,628 euros including penalties).

It’s uncertain whether this new feature will reverse the trend, but it’s still a step in the right direction.
