The Renault Symbioz Goes to GPL at a Bargain Price!

Renault expands the offering of its compact SUV, the Symbioz, with the introduction of a bi-fuel petrol-LPG engine named Eco-G 120.

This development comes as the Symbioz surpasses 100,000 registrations in Europe, with 42,500 units on the French market, thus positioning itself third in sales in its category among private buyers in France.

The new engine is based on a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged block with direct injection. Developing 120 hp, this engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Its main feature lies in its dual-tank system:

• Petrol tank: 48 liters.
• LPG tank: 50 liters (installed in the spare wheel’s location to preserve trunk space).

This configuration allows for a theoretical combined range of 1,400 km. Environmentally, CO2 emissions are certified from 116 g/km in LPG mode, compared to 133 g/km in petrol mode.

A very commercial positioning

The Symbioz, measuring 4.41 m in length, offers a flexible trunk volume of up to 624 liters. Sales data indicates strong adoption of technological features:

• Connectivity: 90% of sold models incorporate the OpenR Link system with Google.
• Finish mix: While the “Techno” finish represents 47% of sales, higher trims (Esprit Alpine and Iconic) make up more than a third of the commercial mix. Pricing and accessibility

The introduction of the Eco-G 120 version allows for a lower entry price for the model. The Renault Symbioz is now marketed starting at €29,900 in Evolution trim. This LPG offering is a rare proposition in the C-SUV segment, where competitors usually favor simple or plug-in hybridization.
