The New Ford Puma Moves Upmarket

The best-selling Ford model in Europe gets a mid-career facelift and enhances its equipment and interior space.

This new generation of the Ford Puma features a modernized interior layout. The seats, steering wheel, and the new sliding armrest are covered in Sensico synthetic leather with Cool Grey stitching for Titanium finishes and red stitching for the ST-Line variants. An acoustic laminated windshield contributes to interior comfort, while a panoramic glass roof that opens is available.

The connectivity of the new Puma is based on the latest generation SYNC 4 infotainment system, which includes 5G connectivity, a 12-inch central display, and an advanced soundbar, enhancing the pleasure and comfort of using various digital functions in the cabin. Smartphones are seamlessly integrated via wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the built-in Alexa app responds to voice commands without the need for a smartphone.

For storage, the new Puma offers the innovative MegaBox, providing an additional 80 liters of storage integrated into the trunk floor and allowing vertical placement of objects up to about 115 cm high, such as two golf bags. The MegaBox increases the trunk volume to 456 liters with the rear seats up, all within a vehicle length of only 4.2 meters.

The advanced driver assistance systems in the New Puma now include an intelligent adaptive cruise control capable of automatically adjusting speed on curves, particularly on highway exit ramps, as well as a 360-degree camera system. Intersection assistance warns of potential collisions with vehicles traveling in parallel lanes, as well as with pedestrians and cyclists crossing the road. Reverse braking assistance is also part of the extensive list of features of the new Puma. The engine lineup relies on 48-volt mild hybrid technologies to increase power and efficiency.

The 1.0-liter EcoBoost hybrid engine is available in two versions, 125 and 155 hp. Both can be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, Powershift, and offer four pre-selectable driving modes depending on traffic conditions (Normal, Eco, Sport, and Low Grip).

Ford has also unveiled the new Puma ST Powershift. The most powerful version of the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine delivers 170 hp and a maximum torque of 248 Nm.

Finally, an all-electric version of this model, the Puma Gen-E, will be launched later this year.

The new Puma is available in six colors, including the all-new Cactus Grey. It can be fitted with 17 to 19-inch alloy wheels depending on the version.
