The last thermal Golf GTI is for sale
Volkswagen opens orders in France for the Golf GTI EDITION 50, a special anniversary series that marks an important milestone in the model’s history.
This special version, announced as the most powerful and fastest Golf GTI ever produced, will also be presented to the French public for the first time at the Rétromobile show, organized from January 28 to February 1 at Paris Expo.

Having sold nearly 2.5 million units since its launch in 1976, the Golf GTI has established itself as a reference among sporty compacts. With the EDITION 50, Volkswagen celebrates 50 years of GTI while offering a refined synthesis of performance, precision, and driving pleasure. For the French market, only 50 units will be available, all configurable now on volkswagen.fr.
Under the hood, the Golf GTI EDITION 50 is powered by a 2.0 TSI four-cylinder engine producing 325 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 270 km/h. It also made a mark on the northern loop of the Nürburgring, where it achieved a time of 7 minutes 43 seconds and 13 hundredths, becoming the fastest production Golf GTI on this track.
Goodbye, and thank you!
As an option, the GTI Performance Pack further enhances its dynamic potential. It includes a lowered chassis by 5 mm, a DCC adaptive suspension with a Nürburgring mode, 19-inch “Warmenau” forged wheels, Bridgestone Potenza Race semi-slick tires, and a titanium Akrapovič exhaust system, allowing for significant weight savings.
Aesthetically, this edition is distinguished by specific colors such as Tornado Red or Dark Moss Green, black exterior elements, and dedicated markings. The interior features sport seats branded “Edition 50,” red accents, and exclusive equipment.
