This Month’s Best Deal is with Skoda!

Continuing to expand its hybrid and electric range, Skoda does not give up on its affordable, efficient petrol models.

The Skoda Kamiq is certainly not a brand new model, but it remains quite interesting… as long as you don’t come up with the stupid idea of buying it! Although the model was facelifted in 2023 and has recently received a technological update, it is still a car launched in 2019 and has seen very few changes since then.

The Kamiq completes SKODA’s lineup in Europe with a 100% thermal offering. With its 4,241 mm in length and 1,793 mm in width, this SUV is considerably more compact than its Karoq and Kodiaq siblings but offers the same elevated driving position, which is very pleasant and reassuring. The philosophy has since been distorted into huge, tall, long, wide, and very heavy vehicles that have no off-road purpose whatsoever. We even see ultra-powerful sporty SUVs totally irrational, weighing nearly 3 tonnes, but at its core, it’s a good philosophy.

A modest and affordable Skoda

But let’s get back to our Kamiq. It is perfectly equipped to handle daily life, with optimized interior space despite its compact dimensions. At the rear, the headroom of 1,003 mm, the elbow width of 1,425 mm, and the knee room of 73 mm remain segment references. The trunk capacity is 400 liters, which can be increased to 1,395 liters by folding down the 60/40 split rear seat. The front passenger seatback is foldable, allowing objects up to a maximum length of 2,447 mm to be transported. Smart interior storage compartments provide an additional 26 liters of space.

In entry-level trim, it is equipped with a small 1.0-liter TSI engine producing 95 hp (70 kW). A reliable, economical, and robust Volkswagen mechanic paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The essentials for peaceful mobility, nothing more or less. But why is this outdated vehicle, which we strongly advise against paying for outright, still a good deal? Two months of rent are offered after the first payment of 229 euros, followed by 34 rent payments of 229 euros each. Doing the math, after three years of leasing, you will have paid €8,015 for a vehicle priced at €27,650. Less than 30% of the new value, with no down payment and no resale concerns—it’s truly a great deal.
