The first double cab INEOS Grenadier Quartermasters have rolled off the INEOS Automotive production line in Hambach, France. INEOS purchased this manufacturing facility from Mercedes-Benz in January 2021. Customer deliveries in Europe are expected to start in December 2023, shortly followed by shipments to Asia-Pacific, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East. North American sales of the Quartermaster are scheduled to begin in early 2024.
Named in homage to the senior officer responsible for supplying and distributing provisions in the British army, the five-seater double cab Quartermaster was developed alongside the Grenadier Station Wagon and built on the same production line. Unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, the Quartermaster is designed to offer the same off-road capabilities and reliability without compromise as the Station Wagon, but with greater load versatility.
This large INEOS shares its chassis, robust solid axle beams, and two-speed transfer case with three locking differentials with the Station Wagon. Under the hood, there is a wide range of BMW inline-six turbocharged engines, 3.0 liters in petrol or diesel, powering all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF.
The largest model in the Grenadier lineup, the Quartermaster features an extended wheelbase of 3227 mm, which is 305 mm longer than the Station Wagon. This stretched chassis allows for a large bed suitable for the European standard pallet dimensions of 1200 mm x 800 mm, with a payload of 760 kg.
