Yvelines announces the deployment of electric mobility in the department, in collaboration with MobilitY’.

In France, in 2022, more than 650,000 electric vehicles were on the road. In Yvelines, there are barely 32,000 vehicles, accounting for 4.9% of the electric vehicles in the territory. The department has 1,521 charging stations according to the data from the Yvelines Energy Union’s Master Plan in November 2022. These charging stations, now exceeding 100,000 across the country, experienced a 66% increase last year compared to 2021.

What is electric mobility?

Electric mobility refers to moving around with a vehicle that uses partially or entirely electric power. Many vehicles currently use electric energy to drive. That’s why the Yvelines department wants to develop this concept.

The Yvelines departmental council (78) announced in its statement that for now, only villages with fewer than 2,000 inhabitants will be affected by this reform. In total, 13 municipalities will participate in this experiment. The department aims to expand this reform to the 142 villages in the area by the end of 2025.

This experiment will feature a solar canopy as well as charging stations.

The department already implemented electric scooter circulation in several towns in the area in 2022. For example, these can be found in Saint-Cyr or Mesnil Saint-Denis.

By comparison, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region also deployed electric mobility. By the end of 2022, the region had 9,859 charging stations. Nationally, France averages 148 charging stations per 100,000 inhabitants.
