Stellantis has a new boss

Unsurprisingly, as his name frequently came up, Stellantis announces that Antonio Filosa is its new Chief Executive Officer.

This appointment of Antonio Filosa was unanimously made by the Stellantis Board of Directors, following a lengthy selection process for internal and external candidates. This process was led by the Executive Chairman of the Board, John Elkann.

Filosa succeeds Carlos Tavares, who has led Stellantis since its creation in 2021. An engineer by training, Tavares first made his mark at Renault, where he rose through the ranks to become the group’s number two. He then became CEO of PSA, before overseeing the merger between PSA and Fiat Chrysler, which gave birth to Stellantis.

An extraordinary General Assembly will be organized soon to elect Antonio Filosa as a member of the Board of Directors. In the meantime, he will fully assume his role as CEO starting from June 23.

Antonio Filosa has worked in the automotive industry for 25 years. He has held various leadership positions and has extensive international experience. He knows the company very well and has proven his qualities as a leader.

He led Stellantis operations in South America and North America. Under his leadership, the FIAT brand became number one in South America. He also contributed to the development of the Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep® brands in that region. He created the Pernambuco plant in Brazil, which enabled the local launch of Jeep®, which became the number one brand outside the United States.

More recently, he was CEO of Jeep® and strengthened its presence in Europe. In December 2024, he became Chief Operating Officer for the Americas. He then improved organization, reduced dealer inventories, and strengthened relationships with Stellantis partners.

John Elkann will remain Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. Antonio Filosa will soon announce his new management team.

According to John Elkann, Antonio has shown a very good understanding of the automotive sector and a great commitment to the teams. Several board members praised his appointment, highlighting his experience and ability to lead during a time of significant change.

Antonio Filosa stated that he is honored. He thanked the Board for its trust and expressed his admiration for the Stellantis teams. He wants to build on this strong legacy to continue innovating and satisfying customers.
