Skoda unveils an armored Kodiaq, confidence reigns

In the United Kingdom, Skoda has developed an armored version of its Kodiaq SUV. Why? Because it’s a hit, of course!

Roughly how many armored Skoda Superbs have been sold worldwide since its launch in 2018? 500! In light of this incredible commercial success, albeit somewhat frightening, Skoda has decided to renew the experience. With its new SUV Kodiaq now.

To achieve this, the Czech manufacturer has fully certified its 4×4 according to the PAS 300 and PAS 301 standards for civilian armored vehicles. The PAS 301 certification is only granted to vehicles that can pass a series of demanding tests, including those pertaining to payload, acceleration, top speed, handling, and braking. Other tests conducted as part of the certification process include subjecting the vehicle to more than 200 bullets, as well as an evaluation of the explosion resistance of the sides, roof, and underbody of the vehicle. The armored Kodiaq meets all these criteria and offers very high levels of personal protection to its occupants.

The Armored Kodiaq incorporates a series of features and enhancements to provide complete protection for its occupants. This includes special bullet-resistant glass and armored steel protection for the cabin. As a result, the Armored Kodiaq offers bullet resistance against various handguns and assault rifles, as well as blast resistance against grenades and powerful explosives.

A faithful exterior design

To ensure that the Armored Kodiaq maintains the same maneuverability and agility as the standard production model, the new model is equipped with reinforced suspension and braking systems, specified to support the increased weight of the armored version. To allow the Skoda Armored Kodiaq to keep moving in the event of a flat tire, all four wheels are equipped with a tire maintenance system that prevents the tire from detaching from the rim, even when flat. This system allows the driver to maintain control of the vehicle at all times.

Other features integrated into the design include an emergency lighting and siren system, as well as an 8-inch touchscreen communication hub with GPS, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Despite the significant redesign of many elements of the car, the Armored Kodiaq retains the same high levels of comfort and practicality as the standard production model. It is offered in a five-seat version and has a trunk space of over 2,000 liters. As with the Armored Superb, customers can choose from a range of engine options, as well as all-wheel drive.
