Škoda Kodiaq vRS: when the tracksuit is distinguished

It is a little the feeling of anachronism that awakens in us when talking about a thermal SUV with 265 horsepower in 2024. At a time of climate emergency, with an ecological bonus of 70,000 euros in 2025, one wonders who will still be able to buy this kind of product that does not check many boxes. Not really a pleasure vehicle, not really a family vehicle, not really affordable.

Of course, the design has the merit of being more flattering than the “family man” version which is frankly not very sexy. The redesigned bumpers, the 20-inch wheels, a more suggestive red color (other colors exist!), a black grille— the result is pleasing. But in fact, this body kit should also be able to be offered on the more sensible hybrid versions. Probably at a later stage.

265 horsepower and zero hybridization?

The Kodiaq vRS therefore benefits from the new 2.0-liter turbo TSI engine which, a few months ago, allowed the Octavia to improve its carbon footprint. The power is similar, that is to say 265 horsepower coupled with all-wheel drive and a dual-clutch gearbox with 7 speeds.

In terms of equipment, the Kodiaq vRS comes standard with LED Matrix headlights with animation and cornering light functions, as well as LED taillights with dynamic turn signals. The Canton sound system, the adjustable DCC Plus (Dynamic Chassis Control), and the KESSY Advanced system with automatic opening and locking provide superior comfort and a personalized driving experience. The driving mode offers options ranging from Eco to Off-Road mode to adapt to all road conditions.

Refined and ergonomic interior

The interior comes in two trims: the vRS Lounge, with black microsuede and synthetic leather seats, and the vRS Suite, which offers perforated black leather seats. Both versions feature electrically adjustable front seats with memory function. The red details, present in the stitching and brake calipers, enhance the sporty aspect of the model. For optimal sound insulation, the Kodiaq vRS integrates acoustic side windows at the front and rear.

Now we just need to know various information from Skoda: pricing, CO2 emissions… and thus ecological penalties. Prepare your tissues…
