Return to life for this magnificent Bugatti EB110

Even well-maintained, an exceptional car like the Bugatti EB110 suffers from the passage of time. A story of rebirth.

In 1991, the Bugatti EB110 GT was simply the most advanced car of its time with a carbon fiber chassis, a quad-turbo V12 engine, and all-wheel drive. Exceptional performance and legendary handling instantly made it an icon of the ’90s and one of the most fascinating supercars of all time.

However, restoring one from a bare chassis in 2024 is a true challenge, some have deemed it impossible. Art & Revs, the specialized structure of Florent Moulin, sold chassis #071 to a client at the end of 2023. A healthy car with only 7,000 km on the clock, but a car that is 30 years old. Moreover, this example from the private collection of the Kuwaiti emir had not seen the road in the last 17 years.

Revitalization for Bugatti

A decision was made to strip it completely and restore it thoroughly. Unsurprisingly, the beautiful Bugatti turned out to be much less sexy than it appeared on the outside, with worn-out running gear due to plastics and rubber going bad under the weight of the years and the rigors of the Kuwaiti climate.

Art & Revs has already proven its expertise in reverse engineering, the art of remanufacturing special parts, a time-consuming forgotten engineering science. With a price more than twice that of a Testarossa in 1992, it was best to be sure of the endeavor.

To set a goal, a decision was made to enter it into the car meeting “The Quail,” which takes place on August 18 in Monterey. Every part of the car was meticulously inspected, cleaned, and restored. Great attention was paid to surface treatments and restoring the original metallic materials. After recovering the chassis and body from the coachbuilder at the end of June, the real enjoyable part began on July 9 with the reassembly. The experts from Art & Revs achieved the incredible feat of completing the reassembly in just four weeks. Off to the streets of Carmel, America.
