Return to Elegance with This Beautiful Surprise from BMW!

BMW Skytop Concept

For the legendary Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, one of the most prestigious elegance competitions in the world, BMW revives its past.

The BMW Concept Skytop pays homage to two elegant convertibles sporting the badge with the propeller, the BMW Z8 and BMW 503. The taut surfaces are defined by a few precise lines that guide the vehicle’s volume towards the rear. Discreetly integrated fins on the shoulder of the doors replace traditional door handles. Light alloy wheels with a “turbine” effect further enhance the dynamic effect.

References to the Z8 and 503 roadsters have been carefully selected, featuring BMW’s iconic shark nose, a graceful tail, and of course, two strict seating places. The lighting signatures play a major role in this concept. At the front, LED units, mounted on machined aluminum supports, have been custom-developed for the BMW Concept Skytop, utilizing the latest automotive lighting technologies with the slimmest profile currently available. All lighting functions are combined into a single optical unit. At the rear, the sleek design of the lighting signature complements the overall appearance of the BMW Concept Skytop.

The leather safety roll bar located behind the two single seats is combined with side fins and a fully retractable rear window. The two removable roof parts, also in leather, can be stored in a special compartment in the trunk.

The leather seats in the cabin feature traditional “brogue” style accents, characterized by multiple pieces of leather with decorative perforations. The dashboard surprises with its… functionality! We are not dealing here with a style study, but with a rolling prototype in the truest sense of the term. A car is meant to drive, Skytop is ready and equipped for it with the most powerful V8 engine in BMW’s lineup.
