Record selling price for this Restomod Mercedes!

As Mercedes, and the automotive industry in general, transitions from internal combustion to electric energy, one of the main concerns for car enthusiasts around the world is to preserve the character, performance, and driving pleasure of cars. All the values of classics without refusing to look towards the future.

One of the most unique and creative ways to combine the nostalgia factor with modern performance innovation is Restomod. And what better base for a project than the iconic Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evo II, of which only 500 units were produced between 1990 and 1991. This project is credited to HWA. Don’t know them? It’s just the initials of Hans Werner Aufrecht, the founder of AMG, the famous performance engineering division of Mercedes-Benz.

With the green light from Mercedes

The TBA HWA EVO is the result of 12,000 hours of work. It captures the spirit of the original model with its incomparable 90s design, a mix of rare brutality blended with a luxurious sedan. Utilizing a carbon fiber body, the EVO weighs only 1,350 kg and offers an ideal weight distribution of 50/50, thanks to the relocation of the six-speed manual gearbox to the rear axle. This EVO is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing 500 horsepower, allowing it to reach 300 km/h. Of course, the sports sedan comes equipped with all the expected features of a modern car, including competition running gear, air conditioning, and LED lighting.

100 units are planned at a price of 700,000 euros. The first of them was entrusted to the auction house RM Sotheby’s, which presented it at its Tegernsee auction on July 27. The sale price has just been communicated, and it is completely outrageous, as the Mercedes fetched 1,310,000 euros under the hammer!
