The new generation of the BMW X3 finalizes the tuning of its suspension systems and driver assistance features.

The development process of the new BMW X3 is entering its final stages before mass production begins. The latest testing and fine-tuning of all chassis control and driver assistance systems have just been completed at BMW Group’s testing center in Miramas in the south of France. The fourth generation of the mid-size SUV will be introduced in a few weeks with efficient combustion engines and an advanced plug-in hybrid system.

BMW development engineers utilize the versatile test track in Miramas to refine the driving experience of the X3. Alongside an asphalt oval and a high-speed ring, there are also slalom courses, winding roads, as well as off-road tracks with handling tests on various surfaces. This allows for detailed analysis and optimization of longitudinal and lateral acceleration, suspension and damping, steering precision, and braking behavior of the new BMW.

Compared to its predecessor, the new BMW X3 also features a wider track and reduced rear axle lift. An adaptive chassis with electronically controlled dampers is available as an option. The latest BMW Operating System 9 offers a significantly expanded selection of driving and parking assistance systems compared to the previous model.

Among the highlights of the new BMW X3 are the active lane change assistant and the fully automated parking assistant, which allows the driver to control maneuvers from outside the vehicle using a smartphone.
