Microcredit for clean vehicles: up to 5,000 euros in assistance

Up to €5,000, the eco-friendly vehicle microcredit allows access to new or recent models for individuals in precarious situations.

Despite widespread availability and a very broad offer, electric and less polluting vehicles remain expensive. Moreover, prices have increased in recent months, even in used vehicles. As a result, lower-income households find it increasingly difficult to find their vehicle.

What is the eco-friendly vehicle microcredit?

Unveiled in March 2022, this microcredit targets individuals and households with low incomes, precarious employment situations, or no financial guarantees. It facilitates access to a “clean vehicle,” meaning electric, plug-in hybrid, or Crit’Air 1.

These vehicles include petrol models registered after 2011, excluding all diesel vehicles. Electric two- and three-wheelers, as well as quadricycles such as Citroën Ami or Estrima Biro, are also compatible.

The microcredit must be repaid in monthly installments over a period of up to 5 years. These €5,000 can finance both purchase and leasing. It supports contributions for leasing with purchase options (LOA) and long-term rental (LLD). The eco-friendly vehicle microcredit is only available through a social support service, which manages the application and assists with administrative procedures.

A maximum aid of €5,000

The aid amount is a maximum of €5,000, guaranteed by the French government. It may be lower if it reaches the total purchase price, including the ecological bonus and/or the conversion premium.

The official document provides a concrete example of acquiring a used Renault ZOE for €9,000 with the disposal of an old petrol model. The situation qualifies for a €5,000 conversion premium, along with a €1,000 ecological bonus. Therefore, a maximum of €3,000 in eco-friendly vehicle microcredit remains.
